Caldy Bowmen 31st Annual Indoor Tournament - Photographs

For those of you who are familiar with the work done by Greg Grogan you can find all the photographs taken at the tournament here. Those of you who are not, Greg is one of those people who just love to take photographs of people, especially people at Archery Tournaments, he wanders around looking for the usual and the not so usual shots, so be aware of doing something that, just maybe, you should not be doing - (Like biting your knock for instance).

7 Clubs Competition - 1st August 2010

The 7 Clubs Competition was hosted by Wirral Archers and proved to be a very successful day, even the sun managed to put in an appearance. Congratulations to Neston Company of Archers who were the overall winners and to Wirral Archers for hosting the event and providing the welcome refreshments.

Congratulations must also go to the Caldy who came runners-up and to the team of Carol Gardner, Amanda Jones, Megan Robertson, John Gardner, Dave Killick, Justin Christley, Michael Draycott and Joel Hewitt.

New club records were also recorded at the event with Joel Hewitt shooting 750 for the Short Junior National. Megan Robertson shot 568 to take the Junior Lady Short Junior National, not a bad result considering Megan only completed the beginners course in June.

Joel strikes again and again and again...

In the Albion Long Handicap competition, Joel Hewitt claimed his official six gold end at 30 yds. Not content with that, he then put in a further three six gold ends at 20 yards to finish with a score of 784, breaking the 10 year old club record held by I Rice by an amazing 94 points and claiming the first junior title. This was also Joels third Junior Bowman score possibly making him the youngest Junior Bowman the club has had and certainly the first since Amy Watkins.

Junior Success - 22 May 2010

Congratulations to the junior archers competing in CCB's Junior Nationals Competition. Tom Fitzsimmons was 1st Under 14 Junior Gentleman Recurve and after a very close competition where there were only two points between the archers, Joel Hewitt was third Junior Gentleman Recurve in the Under 12 class. Joel finished the day with a six gold end.

FITA Clout - Monday 3 May 2010

The annual FITA Clout shoot was held at Neston and as well as being the best turnout ever, produced no less that two National Records, four 6 Clout ends and 49 claims for tassles.
Congratulations to Paul Wise who not only achieved 2nd Gent Barebow, but also claimed his Blue tassle, an excellent achievement seeing as this was Paul's first attempt at barebow.
We must also congratulate Kimberly, Peter and Phillip who completed the day with respectable scores of 112, 103 and 104. This was not only their first ever competition but also their first ever Clout shoot, it is hoped that others will follow their example and give competitions and other forms of archery a try.
